“Finish Strong” 

As we start to close out the year, we want to bring a renewed focus to safety to enable us to “Finish Strong” as an organization. At Group HSSE, we are fully committed to ensuring everyone goes home safely each day; this includes both suppliers who perform many of our core frontline tasks and our employees.

Sadly, this quarter saw the tragic loss of life of three suppliers in work related events on IHS operated sites. These are not just statistics but real people with families, friends and lives away from work. As a group, we need to continually pursue zero harm and must except nothing less than the complete removal of work-related fatalities from our operations.

At the CEO Conference 2022, our Chairman & CEO, Sam Darwish, made this a personal commitment and strongly expressed the need for us all to do better to achieve a safe workplace. We must embrace safety as a true core value and not a “nice to have”. We all own safety and have an obligation to intervene, if safe to do so, should we see people at risk.

The HSSE Teams across the Group will be running local initiatives to bring safety front of mind. It’s important to understand that making the right choice around safety means sometimes we need to take time to stop, and think, before acting.

Both suppliers and employees will be involved as we need everyone’s help. We must all be switched on to safe outcomes, to helping us “Finish Strong” in 2022 and playing our part in ensuring we all go home to our loved ones.
