CFO Offsite
In July, Steve Howden, our Group CFO, hosted a two-day CFO Offsite in London. The offsite brought together all in-country CFOs and Group leads for FP&A, FR&C, Investor Relations and Communications, Procurement, and Audit and Risk. It was an opportunity for colleagues to meet in person and share best practice, market challenges and solutions, before joining the London office’s Summer Party.
Group Financial Planning & Analysis (‘FP&A’)
Greetings from your colleagues in Group FP&A. We had another busy quarter where we welcomed Atambi Aruelafal to the team, invested in development through job shadowing with the Latam team, supported our 2Q 2022 earnings call, assisted with the financial integration of South Africa, and partnered with the business on Project Green modelling.
Atambi joins us in the UK in Group FP&A focusing on the business plan from the IHS Nigeria Finance team where he spent seven years in roles of increasing responsibility. In his free time, Atambi enjoys cooking, spending time with family, and playing football.
Looking forward to fourth quarter, we are excited about continuing life as a public company and partnering with our teams across the business to successfully build the 2023 Operating Plan, support the Treasury team in all financing-related situations, support Project Green launch, and meet/exceed our 2022 OP and external commitments.
Group Financial Reporting & Control (FR&C)
Group FR&C worked on the second quarter financials and earnings release which were filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in mid-August. We made further improvements to our processes and timetable enabling us to produce and check documents more easily.
During Q3, the team worked closely with the South African Finance and Legal teams on several matters including land lease payment amounts and landlord banking details, validating the data to be included in the lease register and other operational matters. This involved working closely with the SSC team and with Group Legal.
In Q3, several SOX controls were tested by the IHS SOX team (supported by Deloitte) and PwC. While these results are encouraging, we still have to focus on the execution of our SOX controls including the documentation, which must match the control outputs defined in the Risk and Control Matrices.
