Airtel Zambia Awards IHS Zambia for Compliance
In August, Airtel Zambia hosted their first partner awards to recognize those who contribute positively to the successful operation of their business. IHS Zambia has been partners of Airtel Zambia since 2015 and were awarded in the Compliance category. The award recognized the significant improvements that IHS Zambia continues to make to meet the contractually stipulated uptimes, which have significantly improved since March 2022. Airtel Zambia Managing Director, Apoorva Mehrotra presented the award to IHS Zambia’s Commercial Director, Augustin Phiri.
IHS Zambia Hosts She-STEM Robotics Sessions
To promote the uptake of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, IHS Zambia partnered with Luso-Robotics, Zambia Flying Labs, Girl Coders and the University of Zambia to hold a robotics session and career day at Kafue Day School. The school serves over 1,320 secondary school pupils from grades 8 to 12 and is one of the best performing schools in the Kafue district. Almost 300 students attended this STEM session.
IHS Zambia also donated 86 textbooks and awards were given to the two, top-performing female Science students. This was followed by a drone demonstration from Luso Robotics. Finally, female engineers from IHS Zambia delivered a careers talk for both female students from the University of Zambia and the Girl Coders.
IHS Zambia Hosts Supplier Training
IHS Zambia hosted their first post-COVID supplier training under the theme “Promoting Ethics, Compliance and Sustainable Business Partnerships”. The session was organized with a focus on the promotion of ethical business practices, high levels of compliance and ensuring that all business partnerships remain sustainable.
The session was attended by IHS Zambia’s Managing Director, Kunle Iluyemi, and his executive committee. In his opening remarks, he reminded suppliers that IHS Zambia would not compromise on its ethical standards. This was followed by a presentation from Pape Diallo, Group Compliance and presentations from key institutions including the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Drug Enforcement Commission and the Zambia Public Procurement Authority, all of whom helped IHS Zambia reiterate the importance of ethical business practices.
