IHS Côte d’Ivoire Helps Provides Free School Meals

IHS Côte d’Ivoire has partnered with Food For Kids, a non-governmental, non-political organization, to provide primary school students living in cocoa-producing areas with healthy, nutritious meals while supporting their education and protecting them from child labor. Food For Kids builds kitchens in local communities, prepares meals and delivers them daily to local schools. Unfortunately, for a high proportion of children in rural areas, schools are unable to offer a daily meal which discourages children from attending and impacts their academic performance. On August 19, IHS Côte d’Ivoire donated 10 million XOF ($15,000), a fifth of the Food For Kid’s total budget, to construct a 410m² school canteen. This pilot project will supply 13 school canteens with healthy and nutritious meals.
